I am adding to my Christmas card stash. I appreciate the elegant font of this sentiment from Dove of Peace (discontinued). Good alternatives to this sentiment would be either Ornate Sleigh or Gift Wrapped Presents. The striped panel is from Daphne Paper Collection (discontinued) but would look beautiful with either Sunrise Lily or Sparkling Poinsettia.

I adhered the ivory panels using dimensional foam, and the effect of the shadow is quite marvellous. I used a 1/2" hole punch for the row of ornaments, and backed it with transparent tape to adhere the glitter. I adhered dark pink cardstock behind the ornaments to bring out the pink in the pattern paper. The ornament hangers were hand drawn. I think I would draw the bows a little smaller next time!

This is a learning experiment. I am not completely happy with the watercoloring and will be giving it another go. I am happy with the idea, just not 100% happy with the execution. I have used one of my favourite HFC stamps from Vines and Blooms. I utterly adore this we bird on a blooming branch.

I have used 'Missing You' from Classic Message. Truth be told, this sentiment has the most ink on it from this set. Apparently my project today is full up of favourites since I also love water colouring. My vision for the background is much lovelier in my imagining than in the execution! *ugh*

I have decided to make a soft and more simple card for today. The background was created using Swirl Bliss dies by Spellbinders. I cut and embossed the die 3 times to create this panel effect.

I wanted to create a masculine card since I have so few in my card stash. I was loosely inspired to use the general layout of a postcard because the students in my grade 8 English class are making postcards from a novel character, writing brief summaries of a critical scene to another character - so a vintage postcard came to my mind quite naturally.

I used a lighthouse image from High Seas as my main focal point and coloured it with warm grey copic markers. I have highlighted areas using an opaque white gel pen. The sentiment is from Moments with You which is a go to round sentiment stamp. I made this Moments with You card using this set, and it remains one of my favourite projects.

I love the trendy look of thick frames around a scene with saturated colour, so I gave it a try for this card. I've never used Faber Castell Gelatos, and thankfully they are idiot (me) proof! I stamped this gorgeous grass image from Scenery Builders on watercolour paper with Versamark ink and detail black embossing powder and then heat set it. Next, I stamped the 'Missing you' sentiment from Classic Message the same way as the image. Then I coloured the background using the gelatos. It wasn't clean or thick coverage because I spritzed the paper with water and rubbed the colour with my finger to fill in the spaces and blend the colour - Finger painting for grown ups!!

I taped the 5x7 Matting Basics A #7 die template to a piece of white cardstock using low tack tape. Then I taped the Large Long Rectangles #5 die template as shown and cut. I adhered the water colour paper to a 5"x7" card base and mounted the frame using dimensional foam. It's not a difficult card, but it is quite eye catching! I like the vibrancy of the gelato background and how easily they blend.

This Christmas ornament stamp is one of my favourites, because I love the shape and the netting look on the ornament. It looks very old world, and I like the heritage feel of it. Please note; this stamp is being discontinued and there is a very short time left to purchase it through Heartfelt Creations for a deeply discounted price!

I stamped the ornament on Heartfelt Creations pattern paper, Posy Patch Collection using versamark ink and heat embossed it in gold. Then, I sponged the edges using distress inks. Heartfelt Creations papers are very versatile - this is an elegant summer paper I've used for this Christmas card.

I cut and embossed Spellbinders Layered Poinsettia die templates to create this lovely dimensional embellishment. I dug through my old buttons and found this darling little ball button to act as my flower center. Divine!

Thinking of You

With the change of seasons, I wanted to create a card that reflected the beauty of the landscape in watercolour. I used this terrific stamp from the High Seas stamp set by Heartfelt Creations.

To frame this scene and sentiment, I have used a new Spellbinders die set, 5x7 Modern Stationary. I am really enjoying the thick frame trend that I am seeing in paper crafting and the nesting sizes in Spellbinders's die templates make this look easy to achieve with minimal effort.

I love colouring. It doesn't matter what medium - copics, prisma colour pencils, acrylic paint, oil paint, water colouring using water colour pencils or reinkers, or water colour paint. The medium doesn't matter to me if I am able to colour. I choose the medium based on what I want the final product to look like.

For this image, I used Derwent Inktense Water Color Pencils and a water reservoir brush. I loaded the colour on my brush by rubbing the wet bristles on the pencil lead. A little goes a long way and the pencils didn't even leave the case! I'm uber clumsy, so this technique also prevents me from dropping the pencils and shattering the lead. Sometimes I just drive myself crazy!!

Stripped Gears

Today I've used a delightful sentiment from Heartfelt Creations Tarnished Gears stamp set. Sometimes I think there are just not enough masculine oriented paper craft products. But then I know in my head that it is just how I use my supplies that determine the audience/recipient of my card.

I thought there was a perfect theme match between this sentiment and the Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder, Creative Cogs. I do love happy coincidences and partnerships like this one! I am thrilled that this folder creates such incredibly deep texture. The tiny screw embossing looks identical in depth to the tiny screw brads I used around the sentiment. Love it!

Heartfelt Creations

First of all, apologies that I've been silent. I've been very busy behind the scenes, which truthfully is a very good thing. And report card marks were due and tomorrow is Parent/Teacher/Student interviews. And Ripley, our foster dog had his second orthopedic surgery today. And some other things I'm not able to share. It's been quite a challenging few weeks!! My desk is in a frightening state which is a good thing too since it means I've been able to create recently more than I have in a very long time.

Today, I want to share this birthday card that I created for Heartfelt Creations. I was pleased to discover that Spellbinders Large Classic Ovals die template #6 fit this pre-printed panel perfectly. This delightful discovery allowed me to create a window in which the lovely printed panel fit. I just love happy accidents like this! I really like the way the A2 Tranquil Moments frame accents the pre-printed panel.

I created the flower in the center of the bow by cutting 3 of the small flower die template and then I hand trimmed the flower layers to created graded layers. I think the change that is created by trimming the flower layers is quite lovely, and it turned out much better than I thought it would.

For my Heartfelt Creations card today I have opted for girly grunge. The colours in this new release are wonderful, and this teal /grey combo is a favourite go-to combination.

Adding the vellum completely softens the collection, really emphasizing the lacey quality in it.

Thinking About You

Fall is upon us. Soon, snow will fly and this brief, transient season will be a memory. For my Heartfelt Creations card this week, I wanted to echo the beauty, resounding joy and melancholy of the changing season.

As I was perusing my Spellbinders dies, I noticed this diamond pattern in both the new Labels 41 Decorative Elements set and Corners and Accents. I love the repeating motif because it just brings it all together in an effortless way. I love the colour and pattern of the Classic Sunflower Collection paper, as I've already mentioned many times. It's still a fave!

This sentiment set, Heartfelt Expressions, is one of my favourite sets. It's a lovely, open font with perfect words to encourage and uplift the recipient.

Autumn Butterflies

Happy Wednesday!! It's time for more Heartfelt Creations inspiration.

 I have a real 'thing' for butterflies, so today I have used the butterflies from both the Summer's Day and Sunflower Stems sets. Really, they are stunning butterflies.

I stamped both butterflies onto the Classic Sunflower Collection Paper and heat embossed it using Antique Gold Embossing powder. Really, I used this embossing powder everywhere I reasonably could because I love the look. It's so rich and warm - perfect for Fall.

I coloured both butterflies using Distress Ink Markers. They blended fairly nicely on the pattern paper. I really like the imperfect, texturized look colouring on this pattern paper gives an image. It's something I don't think I could achieve using a texture image stamp because the pattern and colour effect is just so incredibly subtle when using pattern paper.

The Heartfelt Creations design team was asked to use chipboard shapes from Creative Embellishments. Here, I've used the sentiment 'Autumn' that is included in the Autumn Leaves set. I used versamark and the same embossing powder as on the rest of the card. It is quite rich looking.

I need to do more 9"x4" cards. I'm always happy with the results, and it's a nice change from the 6" square cards I normally do.

Heartfelt Creations Sunflower Bouquet

Wow! Time is going very quickly. It wasn't until I was falling asleep last night that I realized I hadn't done my post for this project yet. My Foods classes are almost done their first modules, I need to write a education grant proposal for my school, and one of the fosters became incredibly ill over the weekend and needed hospitalization (he's home now and recovering beautifully!). I am counting on your grace towards me that I'm late today.

For me, this is going to be a hard card to give up. I love it. It's the image that I absolutely adore. I will be using this image again in very short order.

I can't tell you enough how much I love this paper collection. If you could see my wardrobe and the vast array of greys and muddied colours, you would not be at all surprised. I really love the superimposed image that Heartfelt Creations uses on their pattern paper, and much of it is neutrally patterned to be used for any occasion, from Christmas, to wedding - all from the same collection! The pale green I used for this background would be a perfect example of a paper that would fit for any occasion. Divine!

I adore the way this image turned out. I just don't even know what else to say. It's one of those projects that you look at a few days after it is finished and say, 'I can't believe I did that!!' - but in the very best way! Yup, love this image!

Heartfelt Creations Classic Sunflower Collection

The Heartfelt Creations Collection being launched this month ranks in my top 5 favourite paper collections from any manufacturer of all time. And I'm not just saying that. I love the muted tones in this collection and the greyed blues make me sigh with happiness. Ask my husband. He knows slate blues and grey are my favourite colours. I don't often go for vibrant colours unless it's for a juvenile card, so this collection is right up my creative alley.

I didn't use a pre-printed panel for this card. I like colouring on the Heartfelt Creations printed paper because it is very forgiving with copic markers. I don't get the perfect blend like on x-press it blending cardstock, but for sometimes grainy imperfection is right for the project.

I really like the corner sunflower stamp that was used here. I stamped it once on the square for the card, then twice more on the extra patten paper and coloured it all. I really like the printed pattern showing through the copic colour because it coordinated the whole image and gives it more character and texture. It was a lot of fussy cutting, but the effect is worth it!

What a terrific font for this sentiment!! Yes, I continue to gush over this collection. You will also see me using some of this paper for Christmas cards as well in upcoming posts. I love it that much!!

Wonderful Christmas

Today, I have a 30 minute Christmas Card for you from Heartfelt Creations. All I did was cut paper and stick it all together. Really. It's the pre-printed panels I keep mentioning. Super quick and easy. And the panels come sized to fit whatever project you dream up. Did I mention it was easy?

The sentiment was already there. The corner border was already there, coloured even. Done! I could have added rhinestones or stickles to bling it up a little, but if all you have is 30 minutes, this version fits the bill and looks like it was much harder. Sometimes, I just love it when this much gorgeous comes together so quickly.

Festive Christmas

Believe it or not, this Christmas card took less than 45 minutes to create. Really. The pre-printed panels that are in the Heartfelt Creations paper collections are starting to grow on me, and I'm finding that when I need to put together a card quickly, these panels are my go-to. These gorgeous pre-printed panels are, well, gorgeous and I don't always have time to create gorgeous from scratch.

This sentiment is from the Festive Christmas Background stamp. This stamp, as one big background is absolutely stunning, but I really wanted the versatility of being able to use the sentiments individually without fussing with masking, so I cut the stamp up into the individual sentiments. Love it! I added some dimension on the ribbon banner using copic markers.

As I have said, the pre-printed panels are gorgeous, and all I had to do was choose one and cut it out. The colouring on the panels is fantastic, and I feel like I couldn't do better myself, so use it! The panels are done so well, that they do look like they were hand coloured. So squeal worthy!!

For Unto You is Born

This week my project for Heartfelt Creations is all stamped. I have a real soft spot for long, vertical sentiments, so I was drawn to this stamp right away, from the O Little Town of Bethlehem set. Even better, I discovered that it coordinates with the Cut-Mat-Create dies, which makes it quick and easy to get a perfectly matted sentiment.

This poinsettia border stamp is one of my favourite images in the Festive Christmas Collection. I was excited to colour it from the moment I set eyes on it! I forgot to keep track of the copics I used - really sorry about that because it was quick and easy to colour and I would like to colour it again and make the border more dimensional by cutting out some of the flowers and building it up. Really, I just love this image...

Heartfelt Creations Festive Christmas Collection

Hello, friends! Today is the launch of the new Heartfelt Creations Festive Christmas Collection. It is a gorgeous traditional Christmas look using red, green and gold. My favourite part of this collection, which I am showing today and will show more over the next few weeks, is the pre-printed panels that are in the paper packs. They are perfect for making quick, easy and beautiful cards and other Christmas projects.

This project is 9"x9" and fits the Ribba frame from Ikea. I forgot to take a picture of it in the frame. oy! Will you take my word for it that it was quite lovely?...

I love the orderliness of this little panel. Yes, the cans in my pantry are in order too. No, my studio is not, but I do know where most everything is now that I am able to pleasantly spend more time in there. I think the white tatted lace look of these snowflake die cuts is a lovely balance for the white flourishes I used from the cut-mat-create set to frame the sentiment panel. I think a little white goes a long way contrasting so sharply with all that deep red.

This is a 6"x6" pre-printed panel that comes in the paper set. This would be a really nice framed piece to greet guests in an entry way, or a quick project for a gift exchange.

Heartfelt Creations - Summer Glory

Today, I wanted to create an over-the-top Thank You card for those times when someone has been an over-the-top blessing! I've incorporated components from the July release Cut-Mat-Create from Heartfelt Creations with other supplies to show the versatility, compatibility and mixability of the new release.

I applied a thin bead of glue to most of the straight edges of the paper for this card, then dunked it in glitter in a tidy tray. The softer, rounded edges of the Cut-Mat-Create die coordinate incredibly well with the rounded edges of these Spellbinders dies, and I think the effect is quite lovely. This card is really very quick and easy to put together with a dramatic look when completed. Love It!!!
