Today's Whachadoin' Wednesday challenge is an inspiration challenge. As soon as I have an uploadable photo to show the living room that is today's challenge, I'll upload it here.

Oh the CHALLENGES!!!!! Whachadoin' Wednesday Falling for you!

Oh people! Can you feel a bite in the air? Can you smell the homey-ness of apples ripening on the branch in the sun? Me either *snort* but I know it is just around the corner dag nabbit!

Today's Whachadoin' Wednesday challenge is to make a card that represents Fall to you... and tell why you chose what you did.

Around these parts, there are no beautiful maple forests that turn a palette of magnificent colours after the first hard frost. My first hard frost is about a week away and I need to get my crabapples in and make jelly. We have poplar trees in bulk, aspen groves up the wazoo and evergreens everywhere! That's a whole lotta brown and gold happening, hence my palette. I love walking in a natural reserve close to my home in autumn as the Aspens lose their leaves. I feels like being showered with gold leaf (pun could be intended...) and it is quite lovely!

I coloured this delightful dancer with copic markers. To give her a little bling, I went over her wings with a stardust glitter pen. She is such a hot tamale that I wanted to make sure the card was bright and happy.

My sincerest apologies. I lost track of my week and my days are all mixed up and I didn't get this post up in time. My 2 youngest start school today for the first time. Tomorrow, my oldest 2 go back to school for the first time in 6 years. I'm walking in a fog right now.

And yes, we need 2 furnaces... *sigh*

SUINK Frosty Sprout

I keep playing with my Christmas paper. I like using Christmas paper year round because there are so many papers that are just lovely and not Christmas specific. The new release from Basic Grey is called Eskimo Kisses, and it's all pink, purple and blue for Christmas. What a huge change from last year's ultra conservative Wassail line! I'll decide once I see it in real life if I can handle that quantum leap.



For this card, I used an older Basic Grey line called Blitzen. I am going through copious amounts of paper right now, and truthfully, that's okay by me because I'm using up a bunch of older, well loved paper that has been decorating my shelves for far too long. I had these top notes laying around, and right beside them was my spellbinders autumn harvest frame die. I had a sudden inspiration that those two things worked together! I'm using up scraps and doing it in a lovely way - it's a good day!!!

I used prismacolours and copics to colour this frosty fairy as well as using metallic cream chalks on her wings. This card is 6"x5 1/2" to accommodate both the frame and top note piece.

SUINK Winter Bird

I used this SUINK image here with a spring look to it. Today, this bird is in the deep freeze in the Friendly Forest! When I think Friendly Forest, I think birds chirping and twittering, butterflies fluttering. With this card, I think the friendly factor went a little dormant in the forest! Well, except for this little red bird bringing a splash of colour to this wintery scene. I think me and my imagination need a nap!

I love the wintery look of this card in contrast to the spring look I had a few weeks ago with this image. I coloured it with copics, but I don't know what paper I used. It was a scrap I had laying around and I don't like it because my copics bled right away on it. This lovely red bird has a 'wind blown' look up close and personal! Aarghhhh!!!!

SUINK Holy Cow It's LOUD Bot

This Doodle Bot has lost his volume button so he is awfully LOUD, eh?!! *snort* Maybe you need sunglasses instead of a mute button? *LOL*

Totally adorable. I'm so taken with these doodle bots and I can hardly wait to do a project using all of them! But I can't for awhile because there are only 2 that have been released so far. What I can tell you is they are all DIVINE!!! I decided to watercolour the bot this time. And that's as much as there is to tell

I really don't have sea critter stamps, so I decided to keep the fun juvenile theme of the nursery and work with the colours - a lotta blue and green with a little orange pop! I coloured this newest SU INKie, 'thinking of you' from the Friendly Forest collection with copic markers. I used an *uber* old basic grey paper pack called, Skate Shoppe. If you remember this paper line, hold up a hand. If you have any in your stash, whoa baby, you have some stamping to do!!!! Get that stuff used!!



I'm always sketch challenged and am on the lookout for cool layouts. I'm SO late on the boat, but I just found Julee Tilman's mojo monday sketches. Allow me to remind you, I live in a cave!!! I found one I liked for this card and modified it a little. If you like the layout, the credit goes to that brilliant, talented woman. Give credit where it's due, eh!

Happy Wednesday! Where I am, it's cold and wet. I could see my breath yesterday afternoon and, quite frankly, that is a little depressing for AUGUST!!!! Today's Whachadoin' Wednesday challenge is to make a card that when you see it makes you think -- Aaaahhhhh, SUMMER! This challenge is also posted on the SUINK blog and please feel free to go there and see the rest of the deets.

Here's my card;



I used All Things Grow With Love, a featured set at SUINK. Right now, you can purchase this set for $5!!!! Get outta here that almost free and if you use this set just 5 times, that turns it into a dollar stamp. Use it more than 5 times, ammortized per use, and this baby is, like, free!!!! But you need to get it for $5 first before you can apply my creative ammortization process... ask me why I'm NOT an accountant! *snort*

I used one of the adorable sentiments that comes with this set. If I had a wonderful weather summer, this is what my garden would look like at sunset. Today, it's grey and so I will gaze upon my imaginary garden at sunset and hope we get a little more warm weather before it snows...

I think this next cutie patootie is my fave though. These doodle bots are really growing on me - right into an extreme infatuation! Honestly and truly.

I coloured this bot with prismacolors and blended it with metallic cream chalks. Yup, still my new favourite technique. A little sponging around the bot and, please note, the heart on his display panel is hand drawn. Don't you think that little panel could be personalized SO MANY WAYS?!!! Love it!

I wanna be a cowboy...

I have the worst time making masculine cards. Ribbon has a way of sneaking in there and then, bling isn't far away and before I know it, I have another ELEGANT feminine card. I was talking to my husband about this issue and I think I lost him somewhere between the 12th century and the turn of the 20th century. *snort*

It used to be a sign of wealth and status when a man wore lace and ribbons. In the UK, lawyers and judges still wear wigs before and behind the bench. Male French royalty was always decked out in make-up and all sorts of trim. Now, I'm not trying to advocate for conspicuous consumption here, but why is masculinity so fragile that it's threatened by a little knot of brown satin ribbon and a little beauty? A botanically correct flower (at the turn of the last 2 centuries predominately drawn and studied by men) on a card sends a man into a tail spin?!!

I'm done ranting...

This little robot stamp makes it much easier to make a man card. I think he's totally fabulous!!! I was looking at him upside down (don't ask...) and it occurred to me that he looked like he was about to draw pistols at high noon near the OK Corral. One thing lead to another and before I knew it, I had the song lyric for, 'I wanna be a cowboy... And you can be my cowgirl...' going through my head which is really sad because I don't know any other part of that song. For all I know, it's likely a very good thing! So here's my little cowbot card.

I may have come up with something new here, and I may very well break my arm patting myself on the over it. I have the I Kandee Metallic Cream Chalk and have been too chicken to use it. I wear no makeup, so I have no experience with make-up that goes on creamy and becomes a powder, but I think that is what these chalks are like. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I put my applicator tool on the colour and it was obviously creamy. I thought it would be stiff, so my first foray went a tad deep into the colour. I applied it to the robot and wasn't really happy with the look so I went back in with my prismacolors and then applied the chalk cream over top. OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! I love it! It blends together beautifully and my DD thought I had a puffy robot sticker that I applied to the card. The coverage is wonderful and there's a worn metallic shine to the little guy. PERFECTION!

SUINK Whachadoin' Wednesday Challenge

Happy Wednesday!!! The weekend is almost here...allow me the leeway to WISH HARD! The SUINK challenge today is provided with this inspiration;

Here's what I came up with from this children's bathroom set;


On most days of the week, any hour of the day, I have an audience. They help me read my email. They 'help' me surf. The best part is that some of my audience remembers what they read better than I do, and they help me try to stay on top of the things I have to do.

My audience is also my best inspiration sometimes! We saw the inspiration challenge for this week and my oldest DD came up with the pleating for this card because it reminds her of the lion's mane. How awesome!!! A starting place! Everything fell into place from that point to make this an easy peasy cutie patootie little card!

SUINK Whachadoin' Wednesday Challenge

Happy hump day - It's Wednesday and the SUINK design team has been challenged to make a project using stripes. Here's my contribution...




I will admit I don't have the best relationship with stripes. I'm short of stature and substantial of chestage, neither of which does well with stripes going either horizontally or vertically. ;) I have found of late that my stripe phobia has migrated into many other areas of my life. My house has no stripes anywhere in the decor. I struggle with the striped hand-me-downs that my girls have received. However, if my girls really like said object of clothing, I don't object. In most of my designer packs of paper, the striped paper is about all that isn't cut into. *sigh*

With yesterday's project, I used a very subtle stripe to ease myself into the stripe mindset. I think I did quite well. The striped paper I used today has a very subtle monochromatic stripe on both the yellow and green designer papers. I guess it's all about baby steps... and I really won't wear stripes no matter what anyone says!!!

For my first hop card, I'm featuring the Love Birds stamp from the Friendly Forest Collection. Okay peeps, aren't these little peeps absolutely darling?!! I liked them so much I did the image thrice. I stamped the image with SUINK nightfall ink and coloured it with copics. The background dp is Music Lover from my little shoebox. Totally darling paper, that is!! I used tulip and orange cor'dinations cardstock for the card base. The card itself is 4"x8 1/2" and fits a business envelope.

I saw this robot (thanks a bot) from the Doodle Bot stamp Collection and thought of WALLE or a vintage toy... A little banged up and totally cute! I used poinsettia, tank and celestial cor'dinations cardstock which match cosmo cricket 'little boys' paper that I've had laying around for ages! I stamped this cutie patootie robot dude on the designer paper so there would be some 'rub' marks on the robot then cut him out and mounted him with some dimensionals. I highlighted him with a metallic silver sakura gel pen. Easy peasy and fab vintage!
