It Feels Like Spring!

We are in the midst of a chinook wind and it is all that makes the very long cold winter bearable.  I feel like a kid all spring giddy when it starts to warm despite knowing to the very core of my being that it won't last and we will again be plunged into arctic air masses before long.

To celebrate, I made this card using Heartfelt Creations Semper Augustus Tulips stamp set;

I coloured it using prismacolour pencils on kraft paper.  I wanted a blue delft feel for these lovely tulips.  I used another newly released set, Inspire Me Sentiments combined with an older set, Elegante Borders and Swirls for this project.

I like the drama of the blue scale starting at black rising to indigo through bright sky blue and landing on pure white.  So much like a clear spring day!

I love doing this with stamped flourishes.  I stamp the flourish in white on coloured card stock and then highlight it (draw a line where the snow would accumulate in a snowfall) with white gel pen and shadow on the bottom (no snow!).  This technique causes the flourishes to take on a look of stone on the card stock.  So cool!

Check out the Heartfelt Creations blog for some more inspiration!
