I made this window. I was pregnant with child 2 or 3, I don't remember which. There used to be curtains here, and I hated them - the floor to ceiling ivory sheers from the late 70's. I have no doubt they were nice at the time. I hated them anyway, but there needed to be a covering on this window, or all the neighbours would get an eyefull of us in jammies and such. I found out later that several people in our neighbourhood loved driving by to watch this thing grow. I made a quilt and hung it as a valance over this window, and designed the stained glass after it.

It's made from faux leading and glass paint. When we listed our house nearly 3 months ago, our realtor said this had to come down. I said absolutely not! I was not buying drapery for this window. She wisely didn't push the issue. I explained to her that I could take it down later - easy peasy! Heat it with a hairdryer and it will peel off. Done!

This a small section of the back splash in my kitchen. I worked at The Royal Doulton Store for 10 1/2 years. I KNOW china. I KNOW collectibles. Believe me! So, I was watching all the breakage that was being thrown away. Then one night at supper I lamented about my UGLY mustard yellow backsplash and had an epiphany. Dishes are like floor tiles, only better.

I was pregnant with child 3 and asked my manager if I could keep the breakage. It took awhile, but she finally said, 'yes.' WHEEEEE!!! It took quite awhile and lots of cuts and a killer sore back (I was pregnant this whole process) but I broke the pieces into usable bits and sanded the edges. Then I put them up on my backsplash and grouted. I was quite a substantial size by then, so it was difficult to grout it all. I LOVE MY BACKSPLASH!!!!

My realtor said it was a liability, and would sell better if I took it down, but she could see us keeping it because it is so unique.

I feel absolutely vindicated!!! I found out today that the reason the people buying our house are buying it is because of these very things. I found out because I offered to take the window down, and the realtor panicked. Both of these 'liabilities' are what sold my house. I'm so happy these are going to someone who will love them as much as I do.

Now, the funny thing;

They want to buy my wall quilts too... NO!!! I don't think so. I thought it was a little weird, but how flattering at the same time. This blue quilt I need to teach this Gordian Knot class. I have many more quilts, but they are safely tucked away.

As we were waiting for news on our house inspection, I got today's challenge on SCS done. YAY!!! Use brads in the main image. I forgot the no ribbon rule though. *sigh* I'm just so glad I got this far in the day!!!

We got word about an hour ago, we moved from pending to SOLD!!!! Now, where will we go?!!...
