ODBD September Release

Welcome to the September release blog hop for Our Daily Bread Designs. From this release, my favourite stamps set is Deep Waters, and part of that is because I love the worship song Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) and one of the lines from that song is a stamp in this set.

For my first card, I went completely against the flow (forgive the pun!) of this release and created a classic card.

I have used Vintage Flourish Pattern to create an instant background for my card. I always appreciate when dies make beautiful card making this quick and easy! Grab some paper, put the die on it, crank it through, and Voila! Instant gorgeousness!

The Stitched Oval die was from a new release set last month. LOVE! I'm such a fan of dies that do stitching and piercing for me, and I have both on this card.

stamps; deep waters (odbd)
paper; christian faith collection (odbd), ivory, plum cardstock
ink; onyx black versafine (tsukineko)
accessories; vintage flourish pattern, stitched ovals (odbd), ivory ribbon, ivory adhesive pearls

While I know this card might look simple, it took me 2 days to create the background paper. I thoroughly soaked a piece of watercolor paper. Then I gathered all the inks that made me think, 'Beach, sand, surf" and I applied a random wash of the colours, with a sprinkle of kosher salt, allowing it to dry between each layer. I didn't use a heat gun because I wanted to allow as much open time as possible to allow things (salt, ink flow) to happen naturally.

I flicked 4 different shimmer paints, again allowing for drying time between each of the colours because this time I didn't want the colours to mix. The beautiful and subtle shimmer is really quite wonderful.

After all this work, I almost spit nickels that I stamped the sentiment over the ONE large dark splatter on the entire card. Ack! It was a palm to forehead moment, and, well, that's how I roll today.

stamps; deep waters (odbd)
paper; white cardstock (bazzill), 140lb watercolor paper (strathmore)
ink; pebble, pool adirondack ink, tumbled glass, iced spruce, bundled sage distress ink (ranger), onyx black versafine (tsukineko)
accessories; sea horse charm (blue moon beads), cool caribbean, luscious lime silk lustre (spellbinders), sand, sea glass glimmer mist (tattered angels), linen cord (canvas corps)

I love the ornate beauty of the first card. This is one of the first dies I purchased. Great addition of the pearls and the ribbon.

The 2nd card is lovely with the watercolor background, sentiment and the twine. What a great charm. It's nice that you tied the knots in the twine as it makes it more nautical looking. Really pretty.
