OCC 2nd sketch for May

For this week, the OCC has created a sketch challenge. There is no time limit on our challenges - feel free to participate whenever you are able. To play along, upload your creation to your blog or gallery, then leave us a comment linking to your project so we can check it out. If you upload to SCS, remember to use keyword: OCCC

It's been a busy week again. We had our homeschool assessment and had boatloads to do for it. I found out my teacher certification has expired so I had to chase all that down. I'm really hoping I don't need to upgrade!!! Then we're talking big **$**!!! I'm out of town all day today at a scrapbook event and I hope to get a commissioned project (a 20 page memory book) finished while I'm there - I'm so close. I'll have pictures to share starting Monday. It's been a massive undertaking and has taken far more hours than I thought it would, but I want this to be a blessing both to the giver and receiver of this gift!

I'm not totally happy with this card, but it's what I've got fer ya today. To my eye, it's a little messy and I'm not that happy with the borders at the top and bottom of the image, but I was less happy before I put the borders on. I love the colours. I love the papers. I adore that little image. It's the coming together I'm not so sure about. And it was a bit of a rush job - hate it when stmaping comes to that!!!

This fern stamp image is the cutest little thing. I got mine from Kate at i {heart} papers and this series of stamps are at such a great price point!!!! She has only 5 of these left, and once they are gone, they are gone! These Beta stamps are from a special buy offered by Basic Grey. Totally fabulous!

I love ribbon. I think I use ribbon on every project I do. I have boatloads of ribbon and I need to come up with some projects that USE boatloads of ribbon just so I can make a dent in my stash! The ribbon I used for this card will be saved for special occassions. It's ivory 1/4" silk from May Arts and HOLY SHAMOLIES is it amazing! It is delicate but with strength. It's a little translucent and I can tie the tiniest knots with it so it won't add to the card bulk for mailing. It's a new fave fer sher!

I combined a little old with a little new with the paper. All the ivory layers are scraps, so I don't know what they all are. The very bottom layer is always artichoke cardstock. The next green layer is this new paper from Webster's Pages called Purple Majesty. The dark green dp layer is an old Cosmo Cricket paper from the Wonderland pad. I just love that stuff!

I think I would like this card better if I didn't stamp the edges of the image. I was running short on time though and couldn't re-do the image. I may re-do today... After the memory book.

Please go check out what the amazing ladies of OCC did with this sketch!
