OCC may challenge - sentiment focus

For this week’s challenge, it’s all about sentiments. Use your favorite sentiment as a focal point on your card/project.

There is no time limit on our challenges - feel free to participate whenever you are able. To play along, upload your creation to your blog or gallery, then leave us a comment linking to your project so we can check it out at Our Creative Corner. If you upload to SCS, remember to use keyword: OCCC.

I love using sentiments as the focal point of a card. Words are power (I'm an English teacher) and I enjoy showcasing the beautiful fonts and the overall image that sentiments create.

I just got my Wisteria paper by Basic Grey. I know I'm a little late on the BG boat, but better late than never! I wasn't sure I'd like this paper because the purple is so purple. It's SO purple, I had trouble seeing the rest of the paper. Just to prove it to myself, there is no purple on this card. I think this paper is so earthy and elegant. Absolutely love it!

This is the bottom layer of the card. I was so happy with it, it was hard to cover up! The flourish I used is an old Fancy Pants stamp. It's a set I love but can't remember the name of right now. I hate it when my thoughts fall out my left ear! Anyhoo, I stamped it on the Wisteria paper with Distress Embossing Ink and I used peeled paint Distress Embossing Powder. I do love this embossing powder line. It's very easy to see when this particular colour is cooked - it turns silvery. Once it is cooled, it returns to the original blue/grey colour. Then, as with all distress emboss powders, rub off the excess. *Uber* cool!!!

I used several nesties on this card. I admit I am terribly nestie dependant. Don't save me or do an intervention though - I am perfectly content where I am. This ribbon turned a higher red in the picture than it is IRL. To my real live eyes, this ribbon is a dead ringer for the colour of the background paper. A little sponging around the sentiment and VOILA!

stamps; Simple Thoughts - Memories (Cloud 9), unknown (fancy pants)
paper; brown (bazzill), antique white (paper accents), wisteria 6x6 pad (basic grey - IHP)
ink; walnut stain, antique linen, embossing distress ink (ranger)
accessories; labels two, labels four, symbology nestabilities (spellbinders - IHP), 3/8" satin reversible antique gold/champagne ribbon (may arts - IHP), heart charm (blue moon beads), scallop border punch, slot punch, pretties kit (SU!), tiny adhesive pearls (hero arts - IHP), peeled paint distress embossing powder (ranger)

I agree on the Nestie addiction. Could not live with out them!!! I love your use of the two nesties together, and your card is fab. Wisteria is a neat collection -- I'm not much on purple either -- but really the collection is very "earthy" just as you said!
