Okay, if you've been reading my blog long you know I'm really not big on birds or black. I'm trying to change my ways. I wore an awesome black velvet jean jacket all day today, and I'm still in one piece. On this card there are teeny tiny birds - I'm taking baby steps here people. The blue bird of happiness is a good place to start, I think.
I used Artistic Outpost's Serenity stamp set here. I've used other pieces of this set, but not this particular stamp. I have no excuse. None. I love the sentiment. It reminds me that there isn't always a reason to every miniscule detail of my life. I believe all things happen for the good and that's a promise I stand on and will live and die for, but sometimes things just happen and I can't be overly analytical about it all. Sometimes, the birds sing just 'cause. God is really very good that way.
I coloured the stamp with markers. I used SU! markers everywhere except the sentiment. My mistake. I used an Adirondack marker and coloured the sentiment first, then using SU! markers I coloured the rest of the image. I misted the stamp with water then stamped the image. The sentiment didn't stamp. There was a blank space where the sentiment should have been. WHO KNEW!!!! So I coloured the sentiment with a SU! marker, used a samj, and restamped the sentiment where it belonged. I highlighted with a white gel pen, and sponged around the edges.
I used megabilities curved rectangles and yes, I traced the inside of the cutting die and cut it out by hand to get more layers. My oldest DD couldn't believe I did that, but I really wanted more layers.
I sing because I chose to not because I have to.

Holy cow! That's A LOT OF cutting! Nice job! You have way more patience than I do!!
I really like this card, Loretta. It is so classy and artistic. Your cutting on those layers is really great! I thought they had come out with another set of dies to fill in the gaps. I would buy it if they did as I don't think I could ever cut like this by hand. Thanks for sharing your art and thoughts.
