I haven't done a Virtual Stamp night in SCS for more than a year. What can I say? It's been a rough ride. Really rough...
Anyhoo, I stamped these holly for the sketch challenge last week, and they didn't make the cut. I still really like how the holly turned out, and - yay me! - they shine for this card! It made this challenge (NOV08VSNA) so easy since I already had the images on my desk.
I used chalk ink on the stamp, since I wanted colours to blend an this acrylic stamp. I like that chalk inks are so vivid with acrylic stamps. I know dye inks work with acrylic stamps, but not for me. If you have tricks for using acrylic stamps with dye ink, please tell me! Leave me a comment with this post and I'll send some blog candy for the tip that works the best for me. I have a 6x6 Granola pad from Basic Grey along with glazed brads for you. I'll contact you for your addy if your tip is chosen.
I used the new Wassail paper, and that was that. It was a very simple card since the images were already done. The stamps and paper I used are available from i {heart} papers.
I was determined to do all Christmas cards for VSN, and I think for the most part I did it! I'll up load my VSN card here as the week goes on. There are a couple of cards that I wanted to do just one more thing for it to feel finished, and I'll make those changes and upload the finished card and a link to the original to show the differences. I can't upload so many cards all at once or it'll be overkill.
Thank-you for your tips for me!!!!!
stamps; winter shapes (inkadinkado IHP)
paper; french silk, coconut smoothie (bazzill), wassail (basic grey IHP)
ink; colorbox chalk ink

When using acrylic stamps, I find that using less pressure (compared to rubber stamps) seems to transfer dye inks better. It might also work for pigment ink. That said, I haven't actually used chalk inks before, and very little pigment inks. I can't believe I'm actually trying to give advice to a stamping guru!

I found some neat in pads at our local Scrpbook store that work great, they are from Autumn Leaves and are called a "clear stamp ink pad"...our store has many colors for about $2.49 each. I just saw them in a couple of colors at Walmart, and they work good! I like thme as the pads are about half the size of a reg pad and easy to work with. I have to admit I have LOTS of the clear acrylic stamps, but will always remain a "rubber girl"...LOL!!!

I have the same problem with dye ink & acrylic stamps sometimes and I have found that if you rub an eraser over the face of your acrylic stamps first it helps them to 'hold' the dye ink better.
