I want to start by saying, I'm not egotistical. I keep in mind that in the very large pool of stampers, I am one little fish. I'd like to be a fish that stands out a little more than a well camoflaged river trout or a guppy, but it's still a very, very large pool. A friend of mine who is a trained artist told me that's hogwash (he's from a different generation than I am) because every artist (I blushed) must have some degree of ego to do what they do. An interesting thought...
That is said to preface this; I LOVE THIS CARD!! I've been experimenting with stippling ink onto a solid image stamp. I really like the soft gradation of colour this technique achieves. THis poppy felt like the right image for this card even though I've never seen a blue poppy in my entire life!
I almost left the poppy image untouched on the background because it looked lovely, but I wanted it to stand out a bit more so I used my blender pen to add a little more colour and therefore, definition to the flower. I think I'm going to try this again in red...
stamps; Bloomin' Beautiful (Stampin' Up!), Leaves #3 Backgrounder (CHF), Bold Rectangle (Auntie Amy's)
paper; very vanilla (Stampin' Up!), hazel, twig (Bazzill)
ink; sage shadow, soft sky, mellow moss, basic gray (Stampin' Up!)
accessories; stylized silver HH, beachfront ribbon (Stampin' Up!), hemp twine

this card, among others of yours...is simply beautiful...your reach to achieve your ultimate goal, is a form of determination that I wish I had, along with your ability...
Beautiful card! I can't wait to see what you come up with using red.
I agree with your friend you truly are an artisit. Thank you for sharing your work.
And 'artists' we are! I blush too when people call me that, but it's true! I am still learning to accept it, but it gets easier every time someone looks at my stuff for sale and asks if I am the artist. ;-) Lovely card, by the way. Blue poppy = Creative License. Go with it!
