IHP Sketch challenge is Goin' Green

The i {heart} papers design team is playing along with the Paper Craft Planet sketch this week. If you want to join along, the PCP code is; sk031310 (get it; sketch, March 13,2010). Here's what I did with this sketch;

Doesn't look like I recycled a thing, does it? I did!!! This ribbon was a handle on a bag. I took a DD to a store to look for one of those wide elastic belts that's all the rage now, and they gave me their dark blue bag with white lettering. I agonized over the recycle bit of this challenge until youngest DD came to me with the bag and asked me what to do with it. I told her it had to go into our recycle bin, but, 'HOLD THE PHONE!' I needed the handles!!!

She untied the ribbon and gave me both handles and I was off to the races. I made my card fairly easily;

...and then realized I forgot to use the sketch! Good grief! So, this is the first card I made, and I am totally tickled with it, so I'm showing it along with the 'actual' challenge card.

With this card I did faux watercolouring. I coloured the image (from Dandy Days by Our Craft Lounge) with markers and the gave it a little water spritz before I stamped it. *Uber* fab! I then sponged the image and gave it a spritz with Sparkle Shimmer spray. I used the emboss resist technique for the sketch correct card, sponged the edges and spritzed it too. I really like the subtlety of this spray because the shimmer is so fine and goes on very evenly.

The designer paper is from a new Cosmo Cricket line called, 'Garden Variety'. This whole pad is really super cute and has the terrific vintage feel that Cosmo Cricket is well-known for.
