OCC When I am old I shall wear PURPLE...

When I am an old woman,
I shall wear purple - -
With a red hat which doesn't go,
and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension
on brandy and summer gloves and satin sandles,
And say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
and gobble up samples in shops
and press alarm bells
and run with my stick along public railings,
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit!
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at ago,
or only bread and pickles for a week,
and hoard pens and pencils
and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry,
and pay our rent
and not swear in the street,
and set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner
and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me
are not too shocked and surprised
when suddenly I am old,
And start to wear purple!

It's a new month and on OCC that means a whole new set of challenges and a new hostess. I'm honoured to have the privilege of being your challenge hostess for the month. This week I am challenging the OCC to create a card or project using purple - only purple. A monochromatic purple project. There is no time limit on our challenges - feel free to participate whenever you are able. To play along, upload your creation to your blog or gallery, then leave us a comment linking to your project so we can check it out. If you upload to SCS, remember to use keyword: OCCC.

My 12yo DD loves purple. I think if it were possible, she would BREATHE purple. I like purple well enough, but for some reason I avoid purple. I have had a pack of Basic Grey Wisteria paper and have used almost everything from it EXCEPT the purple paper. I have been very intimidated by the rich, deep purple paper which is too bad for me because it is beautiful paper. Well, I have officially cut into this lovely stuff, so YAY me!

I chose this Ivy Ketto, because I think purple speaks of whimsy, and Ketto's are right up the whimsy alley. I stamped her on pale purple cardstock and coloured her with prismacolors. This took a little longer than I intended because I was challenged finding the right colours since they changed their hue with the purple underneath. *DUH!* I decided to keep her skin more of a natural tone since colouring her purple would make her a little too alien for my liking.

I coloured white grosgrain ribbon with my copics since I discovered I had no purple ribbon. What's up with that anyway?!!! Everyone has purple, right? apparently not... I had purple bling though, so really, all is right in the world.

Take a boo at the rest of the OCC purple creations... And have a spectacular weekend.

stamps; ivy ketto (stampingbella)
paper; wisteria (basic grey), infatuation bling, rome, santiago, sparkleberry (bazzill)
ink; black soot distress ink (ranger), versamark (tsukineko)
accessories; square and scallop square nesties (spellbinders), mini scallop scissors (fiskars), rhinestones (kaiser), bridal embossing tinsel (ranger), white grosgrain (SU!), prismacolors
