OCC 2nd June Sketch

For this week's challenge, our June host, Jennifer Meyer, has put together this sketch:

To play along, upload your creation to your blog or gallery, then leave us a comment linking to your project so we can check it out. Remember, there are no time limits to our challenges. Feel free to play along whenever you're able. If you upload to SCS, use keyword: OCCC

I love the sketch this week. I think I am quite partial to sketch challenges more than any other challenge. Here's my take on it;

IRL those lime green chipboard flourishes aren't lime green! They blend much better with the card but my camera just couldn't 'see' the blend dagnabbit! What's up with that? It is likely the camera operator. Everyone knows I'm technologically challenged and if it weren't for my most patient DD, I could hardly turn on the computer! She has read an email sent to me about how to turn my watermark into a brush stroke in our photo editor program, and done it! {insert contented sigh}

I love the softness of this card. I started by choosing paper from my 6x6 Wisteria pad. I don't think I've used any purple from that pad yet! When I first saw the Wisteria paper, all I could see was purple but there are so many other beautiful papers that I haven't felt the need to cut into the purple. I like purple, don't get me wrong. The purple in Wisteria is quite bold for me though. I have seen some stunning cards using this purple, just not from me. Maybe next week...

I finally used my Just Rite stamps in a way that doesn't make my eye twitch! YAY!! Becca Feeken is just about at the pinacle of using these stamps birlliantly and I love what she does with them. Debbie Olson is pretty darn smokin' with these stamps too. Me - not so much. Today though, the stars apparently aligned for some elegant stuff. I used Tiny Words, Borders and Centers for the top two layers of my main image. under that is an elegant border from Designer Centers and Borders. This little image stack makes me think of Blue Delft china plates stacked in an antique sideboard. Lovely!

I used circle nesties to cut out the stamped images and Blossom nesties to cut out the lower layers. The center panel was made using the Labels 4 nesites - I just love the elegant panel look of this set! The left edge of the card was super, *uber* easy and so over the moon pretty with the ric rac scalloped pierceabilities template. Kate has her nesties on for a really good price! Go check it out at i {heart} papers.

Well, grab a cuppa joe and enjoy the inspiration offered up by the rest of the OCC Design Team!
