IC183 IHP OCC June Sketch

At this moment in time I can't even begin to express my joy with my 14yo DD. Last month she participated in a program in our city offered to grade 9 girls in the hopes of getting them interested in Science careers. My DD chose photo editing as one of her classes. I kissed her on the forehead without much hope that she could help me, but touched of heart that she would do this for me unbidden. She told me that one of the first things she asked in the class was how to make a translucent watermark. She took notes and came home and showed me how. Very cool, but it's still not as faint as I would like it to be.

Well, I was all full of hope that having a super bright room would help with my photos. Not so much. My pictures were still grey. I sat here today with a sudden epiphany to ask said DD about colour, brightness and contrast. OH MY GOSH! Aren't these photos so much better now that I have adjusted the brightness and contrast?!! Brilliant child, that one is! And patient too - I'll not mention how many times she had to show me the watermark thing...

I think I may be on a bit of an international kick right now! Russian last post; Semi-Swiss this post. The fictional character of Heidi bares a striking resemblance to this card in my mind...without the heels though! Can't you just picture this little Heidi hiking up a mountain after the goats in these heels?! *snort* Breaking her ankle in a gopher hole? Do they have gophers in Switzerland? Some other burrowing rodent all over the place per chance? I digress...

I got this fabulous pack of Bloom paper by My Mind's Eye from i {heart} papers, and it nearly made me swoon! I don't typically use designer paper with white backgrounds, but I'm regularly trying to grow out of my stamping comfort zone. I don't typically use white for much other than the image, but I'm a huge Silke Ledlow fan/groupie and I love what she does with white, so I thought I'd give it a whirl! I'm showing a fraction of white in comparison to her masterpieces, but we all start in baby steps, right?!

I used a gold copic spica pen to trace over this cutie patootie's hair to give her a bit of a sun kissed glow. I just love these glitter pens - and i {heart} papers has the new set of colours in - there is a chocolate in that set, and I'm dying to get my hands on it - SOON!!! Oh jeepers - fabulous, essential things those glitter pens are! For clear glitter I still prefer my Sakura stardust, but if I can't find it and I'm in a hurry, my clear copic spica will do.

This pretty, cutie patootie Charlotte Ketto is coloured with prisma colours. I used Bazzill self adhesive rhinestone around Charlotte. I love that they almost look like they have a solid silver base for the gem to sit in - just like with jewellry. Very posh! This red ribbon is a fabulous micro suede and its got a magnificent, saturated cherry red colour to it - delish!

Take a little time and check out what the other cards done by the OCC design team for this sketch are all about! A bunch of free inspiration and I would invite you to play along with us!

Have a marvelous weekend!
