I think this card is totally adorable. Lovely, light ,springy... *sigh* It's snowing again. Minus 17 bajillion forecast for tomorrow and a wind chill. I'm getting tired of winter hanging on so long (as usual). So while I make spring inspired cards, it's full of hooey. Spring is still nearly 6 weeks away and I'm just after a little personal pick-me-up.
I've had this stamp set since last summer when I picked it up from a LSS on sale. It didn't see ink until 2 weeks ago. This image sat on my desk waiting to be coloured for 2 whole weeks. Then a friend came over and wanted to try my copics so I showed her how to shade with copics on this image since it was just laying there. Then, in the hopes of inspiring myself, I left these cutie patootie chickies standing up, leaning against some stuff on my desk. They gazed at me pitifully for another week and I ignored them to work on other projects. Sad, eh?!!!
Yesterday I was a little short on time, but still wanted to be busy with something creative. I started pulling out papers and accessories to make this card. It's a spur of the moment creation that carried on and on!
When I went down to check on the fosters this morning, I was alarmed to find that Diamond (mom) was heavily engorged, red and hot. I've been with her a lot today with hot compresses trying to get the swelling down. She hasn't been letting the puppies nurse much since Friday and when they've had a good latch, she has cried and then stood up and left them.
Well, this has been an awkward situation. The puppies are just more than three weeks old, and I know they are hungry. I guess due to circumstance, they are on their way to being weaned. The most important thing I'm doing right now is making sure Diamond stays nice and soft and doesn't develop mastitis. After the hot compresses she let the puppies nurse twice today. It'll be a day by day thing for now, I think.
stamps; spring fling (pink paislee)
paper; butter swiss dot, coconut swirl (bazzill), porcelain (basic grey)
ink; black onyx (versafine by tsukineko)
accessories; labels two, ovals, scallop ovals nesabilities (spellbinders), white twill ribbon (may arts), white satin ribbon (offray), mini white brad (Q&Co), scallop border punch, silver cord, crystal effects (SU!), copic markers

poor diamond!!! my shadow dog had puppies several years ago and ended up with a mammory gland infection and a urinary tract infection when the puppies were only a week old. i had to hand feed 11 puppies for several weeks . . . that was quite the chore!
The card is adorable. Poop Momma...you're being so good to her. Got lots of baby bottles just in case?
